The Prodigal Mouse
The Prodigal mouse said to her father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. And not many days after the young mouse gathered all together, and took her journey into a far country, and there wasted her substance with tweeting, twittering and riotous living. And when she had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and she began to be in want. And she went and joined herself to a citizen of that country; and he sent her into his fields to feed swine. And she would fain have filled her belly with the husks that the swine did eat, except she didn't know what "fain" meant: and no man gave unto her. And when she came to herself, she said, "How many hired servants of my father's are happily painting mermaids and hamsters and have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger and my attention span is a shambles!"
