Mary I, Queen of Scots. Born, 8 December 1542. Executed for treason, 8 February 1587. Scotch tape invented in 1930 by banjo playing 3M engineer Richard Drew. John A. Borden, another 3M engineer invented the first tape dispenser with a built-in cutter blade in 1932. The name "Scotch" is said to have originated as an insult to cheapskate 3-M bosses.
